I recently switched my budget bourbon from Jim Beam to EW. The EW isn't really complex, but it's got a pleasant taste overall and is quite worth the money. I've noticed the weird finish Beam has as well, and it seems to become worse when mixed with coke or water; I wondered for a while if I was the only one who thought so.

Completely agree with you that its a notch above Jim Beam white label, for a sipping, neat, whiskey. I'm on the fence when it comes to mixing drinks. Beam may be better for that....light and doesn't combat the mixer flavors. Still, for the price, it's hard to beat. Thanks for the post. ch
