Hi everyone,

I'm interested in picking up a bottle from eBay, seller is in Bardstwon, and I wanted to know if that type of thing was safe, not in terms of the seller, because I'm sure it's fine, but in terms of my bottle actually getting to NY state?

Thanks for any input.

Cheers,
DW

It is actually illegal to ship spirits in the mail in Kentucky and that includes UPS. I think Fedex will ship alcohol, but once again it is illegal if this is a sale. That is why Kentucky liquor stores do not do an on line business.

I would say if you trust the person selling it to you, then you will have to simply take your chances with shipping. If the post office is suspicious, they could confiscate the package. They also get highly upset if the bottle breaks so make sure it is packed well or both you and the shipper could get into trouble.

I would be curious what the shipping ends up costing.

I always get a kick outta the sellers that ship via USPS and offer
insurance. If the bottle breaks, the PO is certainly NOT going to
pay for an illegal transaction so to start with, the buyer is out
whatever they paid. That's not counting what kind of legal trouble
you're in for. I can understand the seller would be on the hook
for sending the sutff but does anyone know what the ramifications
are for the buyer? Guilty as an accessory? Would both parties be
"charged" with the same crime?
