Jurgensen's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I've just received a bottle of Jurgensen's and would like to find out if anyone knows the history of this. The bottle is about 30 years old and still sealed with a U.S. internal Revenue bottle stamp. 90.4 proof, aged 16 years, Hoffman distilling co. Lawrenceburg, Ky. Registered bottle #565 K. Bottled by H.S.J. Ltd., Los Angeles, Ca. Any information about this would be much appreciated.

Welcome to BE. If you could upload a picture that would help out, include both the front and rear label. I don't know anything about this bottle but there may be people here that could help you as long as you are not wasting our time getting info for you to sell it on ebay.

Also, 4/5 quart. The bottom of the bottle: Liquor Bottle 7662-L 4A, 101-7.

O.K. I absolutely would not sell it. I currently have 27 bourbons in our bourbon room (not a liquor room). I've never heard of Jurgensen's and am wondering what to expect before I open it with half a dozen guests over. Should we expect William Laure or Jack Daniels. By the way I never mix bourbon and we only use distilled ice cubes.I will post pictures in a few minutes.Thanks.

Jurgensen's was a high-end (relatively, anyway) grocer out in California. I have several examples of Jurgensen's Bourbon in my collection, but none as old as this one. Mine are 8yo's IIRC. Never opened any, so I can't comment on flavor. This distillery was the location used by Julian to age and bottle his whiskey before moving to BT. Julian didn't speak too highly of the custom bottlings done by Hoffman.
