Worth Anything?

I recently acquired a case of Joe Fiske Straight Bourbon Whiskey Bottled from the James Walsh & Co., Lawrenceburg Indiana. The tax stamp says IL 1936. Is it safe to drink for the corks are still intact? Also is it worth anything? Thanks in advance.

The only way to tell if it's worth drinking is to open it up and give it try.

Thanks Greg, Can Bourbon go bad and become like rubbing alcohol? I just don't know enough. I've been searching many sites and can't find anything on the James Walsh company? Anybody know more? Thanks in advance.

Worst case scenario is it will taste off. If it's not cloudy....try it and let us know.

Thank you Bas, your links were helpful and it gave me a start in finding the distillery. Thanks for the scoop.

Alan,

I've had whiskey's dating back to 1921 and taste great. As Jeff pointed out, if the whiskey is clear, give it a try. Worst case is oxidation set in and it will taste off. Once you open the bottle, the cork won't be any good; in fact, it may crumble to pieces. Find a new cork once it's opened.

Thanks Greg, alright I'm jumping in and giving it a try. I hope I dont go blind. What's the worst that can happen, it's either going to bad or pretty smooth. Thanks man.

Curious if you opened the Fiske and if so, what did you think?

Hello Greg, didn't have a chance to try it yet, been too busy with work, I'll let you know though. Thanks for asking.
