Why would you consider this bottle to be Canadian? I don't see where it states Canada on the label, anywhere.

Schenley owned distilleries in many places...including Canada, though at the time of bottling...this particular label appears to have been made in Pa.

IIRC, Golden Wedding was sent to Canada durring prohibition. Since it was legal to distill in Canada....they started to produce the whisky there and then imported it into the US as soon as prohibition ended. That way they would have an aged product ready for the American shelves.

Actually Golden Wedding was one of Schenley's brands during prohibition - usually a rye out Pennsylvania, but sometimes bottled as a bourbon. I think Bas confusion is from the fact that in the late 1940's Schenley wanted to get into the Canadian whisky market, so they bought a Canadian distillery and changed some brands that were fading in sales as bourbons and ryes to Canadian brands. OFC, Gibson, and Golden Wedding are three of the brands that were successful in the transition.

I have a timeline for Schenley that can help you to understand the transition.

The Schenley timeline is here....viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1620

I didn't see a Golden Wedding timeline in the lore section. Was there one?

OK....I missed it, but it also did not come up in the search function...
