"Anniversary" Bourbon circa 1973?

Unread postby angelshare » Thu Nov 23, 2006 9:29 am

We happened upon a decanter commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Washington Monument. It was bottled (presumably based on the anniversary cited) in 1973 by Maritas Spirits in NJ. It is a KY straight bourbon whiskey with a 12 year age statement. I'm guessing there may have been a box that came with it with more info, but that's all I can find on the bottle.

Anybody know any scoop on its origin? :?

I have not seen this particular decanter before. The shape is similar to an Early Times decanter from the same era. I would suggest you get a Kovel's Bottle collecting guide and look it up. It should date the decanter and give some basic information about then company issuing the decanter.
