old bottles of bourbon

Unread postby bigcedarleo » Fri Nov 01, 2013 5:08 pm

I recently purchased a few old bottles of Old Fitzgerald and Cabin Still. They were bottled in 1948, and some more recent. I am enjoying one that I chose to open. The question I have is this, Does bourbon continue to age after it's bottled? And do these old bottled treats have significant value, beyond my consumption?

No they don't age once out of the barrels, though they can oxidize if there's enough space in the bottle. (I usually try to drink up after i hit the 2/3 mark)

Enjoy it just for the fact that you'll never taste anything like that again. The age alone is an experience.
