This past weekend, I had some Bigfoot and some Old Foghorn. Now, I have tried beers from all over the world and from these U S of A. If there is a better beer than OF, I wish some kind soul would bring it to my house for me to try.

I ain't saying there aren't some beers near as good as OF, but I said BETTER. I don't believe there is a BETTER beer on this tired old planet.

If you call yourself a beer lover and haven't tried OF, you are missing something extraordinary in the beer world. Don't let yoself remain in the status of those who ain't had no Old Foghorn!

As I said above, I also had some Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and also some SN Celebration Ale............two more top notchers!

I was a cooking and beer drinking fool this weekend............wine marinated leg of lamb and the above described beers, a glass or two of Aussie Wine, and of course, short shots of Hirsch 16 YO, Pappy 20 YO, and Rowan's Creek bourbons, and, I introduced my dear brother to Bushmill's 16 YO Single Malt.

When me and my brother brought up the subject of buying a case of the Hirsch 16 YO, our wives said, 'No way, Jose!' And that ain't neither of our names either.

Family and friends were in abundance on the Bowers Farm on Bowers Road in Bowersville, GA. (look it up on the map in NE GA if you doubt me, it is in Hart County, near Hartwell, GA)

Me and Barleycorn were in heaven, but wouldn't you know it, that damn dog clammed up on me and when I told all those folks that me and B'corn have regular conversations, they just whispered among themselves about me having a mite too much of the sauce!

Didn't bother me one whit! And I told that damn dog that next time that we go to Bowersville, he is gonna sing a song for them folks, the one he likes so much about Old Blue, You Good Dog, You!

Mike, I'll agree with ya' OF is a great beer but have you ever tried another barelywine called Monster Ale from Brooklyn Brewery? Probably not is the answer since they don't or can't ship much outside of NY or the tri-state area. I usually love their monster ales that only come out once a year. But from sharing bottles with Bob aging them definitely improves their all around taste. I think I've got some 04 in the basement somewhere... Maybe if your up to it I can send ya' one and if you ever come across something that may be GA only you'll share too 8-)

I'll give a look and send ya' a pm with what I find, just give me a few days if it takes that long to write ya' back... A bit on the busy side right now

Surprisingly Mark, I have had Moster Ale from Brookly Brewery. I had it on tap at a watering hole called appropriately enough (since it is across the street from one of Atlanta's most famous cemeteries - Oakland Cemetery), Six Feet Under.

Unfortunately, they no longer serve it and what I had was not aged. I do remember it being an excellent beer and went back there just to have that beer only to find out it was not available.

Send me your address. I am about to send Brewer a couple of Athens, GA beers from Terrapin Brewery, along with my latest homebrew, an attempt to replicate Celebration Ale. I will send you a package of 'jam' also!
