John Ramsay's Scotch

Unread postby bourbonv » Tue Dec 12, 2006 12:09 pm

In January 1876, E H Taylor, Jr. orders a 17 gallon cask of "John Ramsay's scotch whiskey" for personal use. He declares it to one of the best whiskies made. I am assuming this was whisky from the Port Ellen distillery since a John Ramsay purchased that distillery in 1836 and sold a single malt into America's markets. Anybody with more information?
