I also made some scotch and other product timelines, but they are relatively small and do not do justice to the brands. I only recorded something found in the archive for reference purposes. The largest is Dewar's because Schenley was the distributor for so many years.

Dewar's Heritage

1806 - John Dewar is born (The House of Dewar 1846-1946,
Anniversary Publication).

1846 - John Dewar opens a Wine and Spirit shop in Perth
(Liquor Store Magazine, 2/70).

1856 - John Alexander Dewar is born (The House of Dewar 1846
-1946, Anniversary Publication).

1860 - Dewar hires his first traveller (sales person) (U D

1864 - Thomas Robert Dewar is born (The House of Dewar 1846
-1946, Anniversary Publication).

1879 - John Alexander Dewar joins his father's business and
the name is changed to John Dewar and Son (U D Archive,

o - Dewar's enters the London Market (U D Archive,

1880 - John Dewar Dies (Arizona Beverage Journal, December
1946, p. 90).

1881 - Thomas Robert Dewar joins the company and the name is

1885 - Dewar Whisky wins a gold medal at the Edinburgh

1890 - Peter Menzies Dewar joins the company (U D Archive,

1892 - Dewar's advertising in Bonfort's Wine and Spirit
Cicular (p. 33, Oct. 10, 1892).

o - Thomas R. Dewar starts his world tour to find sales
representatives in foriegn markets (The House of Dewar

1893 - Dewar's is given a "Royal Appointment" by Queen

1894 - Dewar's becomes a limited liability company with shares

1896 - House of Dewar builds its own distillery at Aberfeldy

1897 - T.R. Dewar's racehorse "Forfarshire" comes in 3rd in

Publication).

1901 - Edward VII gives Dewar's a Royal Appointment (U D

1903 - Dewar's adds a bonded warehouse to its distillery in

1904 - Dewar's White Label wins a gold medal at the St. Louis
Louisiana Purchase Exposition (Arizona Beverage

1908 - Dewar House in the Haymarket opens to house the firm's

1912 - Warehouses and Glass storage added to Dewar's as
production reaches a million and a half gallons
