Had a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 with a couple fingers of Ezra Brooks 12 yr earlier today. Was a very nice combination.

The evening I am having a Tatuaje Havana IV Angelina with my friend Elijah Craig. :geek:

Went to JR Cigar's Burlington N.C. store with my friend Fricky recently. Great place. Sank into a corinthian leather chair with a great cup of Mayorga coffee and a Fuente Opus X cigar. Life is indeed good.

I was sipping on the 10 year old Old Rip Van Winkel 107 proof from Stizel-Weller that Bourbon Joe & Doug Fricky had left behind during their recent visit. I gave great thought as to what vitola would go best with this great and rare bourbon.

Hmmm? As I searched through my humidor: this stick? No, too mild. This one? No, too strong.

How about this Padron maduro 1964 Anniversary double corona?

YES!

What a great pairing! A pure compliment of flavors and aromas! The deeply satisfiying flavors of the sweet coco and leather of the Padron along with the nutty butterscotch and vanilla of the Van Winkel is pure proof that opposites attract!

Do it, if you can!

Had a Montechristo #4 with some Lot B last night. Great pairing, both excellent. The cigar had "mellowed" with a couple of years aging & matched the Lot B perfectly, at least to my taste.

All Montecristos are a perfect match for any bourbon. They just have the right flavor combination going on. There are just so many counterfeits out on the open market, that you must only deal with registered Casa Del Habano dealers. Is $500 per box of 24 sticks too steep to pay? If you want genuine Havana Montecristos........

Canadians can buy genuine Havana cigars legally in their own country. I forget the name of the cigar shop, but they are a registered Casa del Havana dealer, and guarantee the authenticity of every box. They have a website (which of course I have also forgotten the name) but when I last visited three or four years ago a box of Montecristo #2 were $500 plus FedEx overnight shipping. How they successfuly get them through customs I'll never know. There are also registered Casa del Havana dealers in London, Amsterdam, and Zurich that will also ship to America, but their prices are higher.

I realize that there are a great many smugglers whose only business is to smuggle illegal cigars into the U.S.A. They are the source of the vast majority of counterfeit Havanas. Not the only source, but not to be trusted.

I know Canadians can bring back one (maybe 2?) box of Cuban cigars tax free when they return home, & that's one box per person, so if there's a group of six & only two cigar smokers, three boxes each for the smokers.
I know he'll only buy at a licensed store or at the factory also + Cuba is also less expensive relative to other island vacations.
Canada has very high cigar taxes, that's where the $500 comes from.

Went out on the bourbon deck tonight and paired a pour of Rare Breed with a Perdomo Vintage 1991 Toro. It was so good, I'm gonna do it again tomorror night and maybe again on the 4th of July. I wish you all a glorious July 4th. :flag:

Kept the pour the same, changed the cigar. This time it was a Perdomo Corojo Habano. It just doesn't get much better than this combo.

Avo Number 3 with Bookers.....great combo....on the deck of the "mountain home" in Show Low Arizona after golf and watching the sunset in the cool pines....6500 foot elevation makes it a cool escape from 110 degree heat in Scottsdale!

Last night I enjoyed a Partagas Ramon Cifuentes. Medium bodied with a very nice creamy texture. Beautiful cigar.
