I actually am reading Carson's book and it's great. I would have finished it in a couple days except I've been busy. I never know if the tales told are tall ones or not, but they certainly have the sound of truth and add a lot of character to the book.

I was watching a John Wayne movie yesterday called "The Undefeated" with Wayne as an ex-Union colonel and Rock Hudson as an ex-Confederate colonel, both leading people into Mexico. At one point Wayne and Hudson's characters are sharing from a bottle and Hudson's character states "One of these days I am going to have to write a social history of bourbon".
