I am going to try to attach the cover design for my book. Let us hope this works.

It does seem to have worked. Opinions?

This is probably easier said than done. A photograph of bourbon in your Glencairn glass after swirling showing the legs would be great.

I agree...too many bubbles. I did not read others comments before looking and they were the first thing I noticed and considered changing.
Fricky has the idea. Perhaps using a liquid that looks like bourbon but has a greater viscosity?

Thanks Col.Dale. I should say this is what the University Press has decided will be the cover. I would like to hear your opinions. i have had several people mention the bubbles.

Not to be unkind, but meh = bland = ho hum = so what. :| So about as blah as you can get. Bourbon is the exact opposite. I would reject this cover, and demand they do better. :blackeye:

Doesn't the U of L have any artists at all?

So Sad.

Linn,
I knew I could depend upon you for an honest opinion. I take it from the silence of the others they share your opinion. The truth is i am not a big fan of the cover design. the bubbles are wrong and the whole design looks more like a wine tasting book than a bourbon history. That said, I am stuck with this as the university Press of Kentucky thinks it is the best they have ever seen.

Mike

Too many bubbles in the bourbon. I think having a rackhouse with maybe a bottle of bourbon and a full glencairn glass sitting on a bourbon barrel may set a better mood. Also, maybe a whiskey thief pouring the bourbon into a glass

It looks to me like they're trying to sell to the flavored vodka crowd. Your picture certainly better represents what the book is about (just add an old bottle and a shot glass). Marketing at its finest :?

P.S. I'll be buying the book regardless of the cover

Mike,
I don't like it (I also don't like the University Press). Too modern. Too splashy. Too many bubbles. Keep it simple and they will come.

The first cover you linked Mike is fine, a very nice design. But why were bubbles shown in the whiskey? This seems atypical of how any whiskey looks in the glass.
