Pendleton Canadian whiskey

Unread postby Mike » Tue Feb 13, 2007 6:18 pm

I was given some of this whiskey and have found it to be very nice indeed. I know nothing at all about it but find it to be somewhat different in nose and taste. The nose reminds me of a vanilla scented candle with a wee hint of waxy smoke combined with the fruitiness of a rye whiskey. In taste it seems more robust than most 80 proof whiskies and the rye plays a nice first chair here, seconded by rich vanilla.

I would buy a bottle of this stuff!

Addendum

I just searched and found a couple of reviews which were middlin.........but, as my granddaughter used to say, 'Whoever cares?' They found the nose to be better than the taste and I found exactly the opposite. Something about this whiskey just pleases me. Reminds me that all palates are really idiosyncratic in the end.................hmmmm, wonder what JoeBourbon would think of this stuff. Oh, well he has his own tastes, which do, however, often coincide with mine.

Do you know who makes it?

I'm always kind of interested in anything coming from the Alberta Springs Distillery, since they are the only Canadian distillery that uses 100% rye.

Never had it Mike, but if I ever do I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts. Thanks for thinking of me. Stock up on that Hirsch buddy.
