Here is something I'll typically do.

Pour an ounce and a half of (in this case) Rebel Yell, for a good, relatively mild, base. (In another case, I might use Canadian whisky, or a North American blend of my own making).

Add dash maple syrup, then dashes of Michter's bourbon and Rittenhouse BIB.

Then, a shake of Angostura and Collins orange bitters.

Taste. Needs just a little display, so a dash of Charbay orange vodka goes in, which picks up the orange bitters.

This makes a fine Old-Fashioned, very fine.
