Any other Dickel Drinkers out there?

Unread postby The Duke » Sat Apr 15, 2006 12:28 am

While I know its not entirely polite to go on about my favorite but I cannot help it. Ole George knew his whisky.
Anyone else out there a fan of Dickel No. 12.
How do you drink it?
My drink is 3 fingers over clear ice.
Whiskey slows you down
Whiskey clouds your thinkin
But as long as they keep makin whiskey
I'll keep on whiskey drinkin

I like Dickel 12 well enough. I drank it, off and on, for about 30 years. I haven't had it in quite a while but I do know I much prefer it to Jack Daniels. I like to drink it neat.

I have always liked Dickel products. There is a bourbon quality with a Tennessee smokiness that I like. I do not like Dickel with something sweet like chocolate because I think the smokiness clashes with sweet foods, but I do like it with food. A glass of Dickel with a steak off the grill and some bourbon baked beans is excellent.

I'm another Dickel 12 fan. I'll drink it neat, or with a bit of water. I consider it much, much better than JD.

John,
I am doing a tasting for some friends this weekend and I am making bourbon baked beans. This weekend is the thunder over Louisville fireworks show and my friends do a pretty good party every year. I think in honor of this post, I will include some Dickel in the tasting. Ham, bourbon baked beans, Dickel, maybe some William Larue and Kentucky Spirit as well... It will be a tasting worthy of the fire works display.

Dickel 12 on ice is one of my favorite drinks.
And I agree with the others, it out-classes Jack Daniels by a long shot.
JD is flat, or should I say has no complexity at all.
JD is a perfect example that image sells.

I like both Dickels! I am currently consuming the #8.

I know it's 80 proof but still I am a huge fan of it.
